Eve influences or at least invites Adam to participate in that disobedience.

This led to God’s promise in Genesis 2:16-17 being activated regarding death. There is spiritual death and there is physical death. Adam and Eve spiritually died in that they were now disconnected from God. Even they recognized this in becoming ashamed.

This disobedience also set in motion the process whereby physical death would eventually occur. This includes a decay of the body and associated sickness. It also included conflict between male and female and between humans and animals, and between animals and other animals among other conflicts. Peace between God’s creation was now disturbed as a result of the act of those to whom God had given dominion over the earth.

Physical death eventually comes to us all. Sin can sometimes affect how soon physical death comes; repentance can have a positive effect on rehabilitation from such causes of physical death coming sooner rather than later.

Genesis 3:8-24 describes God’s response and their response to God. Those verses include a description of how God punishes the first couple as well as the tempter identified as Satan. Punishment that yet exists though God under grace has lightened the burdens. God through the Holy Spirit in the name of Jesus Christ helps us and lightens those burdens per Matthew 11:28-30 and Galatians 6:2.

All descendants of Adam and Eve inherit the sin nature, spiritual death, and physical death.

Romans 5:12 says: Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:

This one man of which that verse speaks is Adam. We inherit his sin and the death penalty for sin.

As Ezekiel 18:20 says the soul that sinneth shall die.

As Romans 6:23 says the wages of sin is death.

This has to do with both spiritual death and physical death.

The How of Salvation:

Let us now look at the how of salvation.

Jesus Christ is the solution to avoiding eternal spiritual death.

Jesus Christ is God’s solution to the sin nature, spiritual death, and physical death problem caused by that first sin and all sin thereafter.

Jesus says in Luke 19:10: For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.

Romans 5:17 says: For if by one man’s offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.

John 3:16 says: For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

And Ephesians 2:8-10 and Philippians 1:6 say: For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of ourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them. Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:

Romans 3:24-26 says: Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation [atoning sacrifice] through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God; To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus.

In Revelation 3:20-21, Jesus says: Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me. To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne.

So then what is one to do?

Well, by faith accept the why and crucified Jesus Christ as the solution to sin and spiritual death, and invite the Father, Son Jesus Christ, and Holy Spirit to save, sustain, and seal you unto eternal life and never turn back.

The When and Where of Salvation:

Let us now look at the when and where of salvation.

Now is the best time to partake of God’s salvation plan. For as Jesus says in Matthew 4:17, repent for the kingdom of heaven is at hand, meaning near. And as 2 Corinthians 6:2 says … (For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succoured [or helped] thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.)

And Hebrews 9:27-28 says, And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment: So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation.

Now as to where to obtain salvation, it is anywhere and everywhere to include in your home, with just you and the Father, Son Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit. For Jesus says in Revelation 3:20-21 Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me. To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne.

And Jesus says in Matthew 11:28-30 and John 14:6, Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light. I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

The Then What of Salvation

Let us look at what we should do once we obtain salvation through our faith in Christ Jesus by repentant faith,

Once obtaining salvation the Christian, disciple of Christ, is to by humble repentant faith live a life of worship involving the following:

a. Praise

b. Prayer

c. Fellowship

d. Discipleship

e. Service/Ministry

The basic concept of the above elements of worship ought to be familiar to all.

However, let me discuss discipleship and service a little bit.

Though discipleship prepares one for effective service or ministry let me deal with service or ministry first as its description is rather brief herein.

Service or ministry is participating in any activity that righteously expresses love for God and/or love for others. It can take various forms. It can occur as part of a group or on an individual basis. Jesus says in Matthew 25:40: …Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.

Now let us turn our attention to discipleship.

Part of discipleship is preaching and teaching, and hearing and applying preaching and teaching of sound doctrine. Sound doctrine is rooted in the Word of God.

Jesus in John 8:31-32 says: Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

Of course, what Jesus says applies to all who believe on him whether Jew or Gentile. It applies to all Christians then and since then even until now and into the future.

What word does Jesus refer to? As the Son of God representing the Father God, Jesus is referring to the entirety of the Bible from Genesis to Revelation as documented by the prophets, priests, scribes, and apostles and their assistants such as Luke.

Yet, he refers to the word of God as applicable under the New Covenant as given under Christ which is a better covenant than the Old Covenant as given before Moses and under Moses.

Christians, whether Jew or Gentile, are subject to the New Covenant not the Old Covenant.

A Summary of Creation: Genesis 1 and 2 describe the six days in which God created heaven and earth and all the foundational elements of heaven and earth. Chapter 2 describe how God ceased from creation of the foundational elements. This include nature as well as the first humans Adam and Eve, both of which wereContinue reading The Why, How, When, Where, and Then What of Salvation Through Jesus Christ

[9,8,40

post-12435","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-basic-christian-doctrine","category-christianity","category-sin-and-salvation
["GET
