Charlottesville Virginia Unite the Right Rally August 12, 2017

On August 12, 2017 a Unite the Right Protest Rally was held in Emancipation Park of Charlottesville, Virginia.  It has many reported that the organizers and attendees were there to promote a White Supremacy ideology.

However, the organizers seem to have initially termed the rally as a protest over the city’s decision to remove a statue of Confederate Gen. Robert E. Lee from Emancipation Park.  Yet, reportedly the organizer Jason Kessler said that changed to be more “about an anti-white climate within the Western world and the need for white people to have advocacy like other groups do.”

The Washington Post article says groups and rallies like the one in Charlottesville are more than and not always about White Supremacy.  Indeed the KKK of Harrison, Arkansas seems to make that claim as found in the FAQS section here.

Indeed, it seems some whites are concerned about reverse discrimination or reverse oppression as the country is becoming less “white” and more “black and brown”.  This means some whites fear being the minority thinking they will be discriminated against once that happens.  I certainly hope that does not happen.

I empathize with them regarding their fear given human nature as some might seek to oppress those of a group who were once the oppressor group.  However, the way to repel any feared reverse oppression is to promote a more loving integrated equitable society. The way is not by speaking about separation or superiority of races.

Relative to the total number of whites in America, I believe the ones who are racist and/or White Supremacist in this day is small in number.  Similarly, relative to the total number of blacks in America, I believe the ones who are racist and/or Black Supremacist is small in number.

All blacks should know that most whites are not enemies of blacks.  Likewise, all whites should know that most blacks are not enemies of whites.  There is no need for whites to fear reverse oppression.  The majority of blacks will stand against and not allow reverse oppression to occur in America.  So let us all, black and white and people of all races work together in unity to ensure racial integration and equity for people of all races.

My article entitled Background Info on Protests in Charlottesville Virginia on August 12, 2017 discuss the organizers request and the cities response to that request.

A number of counterprotesters were at the protest. The interaction between the protesters and counterprotesters resulted in violence.  One counterprotester was killed by reportedly someone who held views the same as or strongly similar to the protesters.  Reportedly he ran her over with his car, intentionally or unintentionally she died.  Also two Virginia State troopers also died in a helicopter crash while helping in the response to the violence.

The state police persons killed were Lt. H. Jay Cullen and Trooper Berke M.M. Bates.

The woman killed was named Heather Heyer.  Click here for Heather’s family comments on the her death.

My background article cited above clearly shows Charlottesville government authorities knew the potential for violence was great; clearly, they made the wrong decisions in handling the situations.  In fact, they contributed to the anger in the way they handled it.

President Trump made multiple statements in response to the Charlottesville incident.  Some business leaders and other people unfortunately quit councils that he had setup to develop and implement plans and strategies to address various areas in our society.  They said they did so because they felt his initial statement about the Charlottesville incident was inadequate.

Both sides (protesters and counterprotesters) as well as city officials share guilt in the deaths that occurred regarding Charlottesville.  I do not bow down to intellectually and spiritually dishonest folks.  To say that because one says there is shared guilt means one is setting a moral equivalence is absolutely void of integrity.

Indeed, in John 8:1-11, both the woman caught in adultery and her accusers were guilty.  Jesus purpose was not to say one was more guilty or less guilty than the other or even equally guilty.  He simply intimated that both were guilty and both should go and sin no more.  As it was, so it is now!
