Statistics show that there is still a great discrepancy proportionally between minorities and the majority race-wise.
There is a great need for greater statistical accuracy and confidence in the data to ensure any reported increases or decreases are not a result in reporting manipulation due to political or other societal pressures.
Such statistics are important to me because I am aware that such conditions feed the racial polarization in our society and contribute to the large wealth gap which itself produces a number of cultural factors that lead to imprisonment.
There is an interrelationship between these factors such that correction of one element reduces negativity and correction of more elements further reduces negativity resulting in an overall better society and further movement toward that more perfect union of which our nation’s founders spoke.
