Constitutional Right to Hold Peaceful Rallies Without Interference
Amendment 1 to the US Constitution says:
“Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.”
The right of freedom of speech extends even to those with whom we don’t agree. The right to peaceably assemble and to petition the Government for redress of grievances also extends even to those with whom we disagree. These rights include the expectation that others (government and citizenry in general) not block or otherwise interfere with an assembly so long as the assembly is peaceful.
